Three Case Studies of BPaaS Effectiveness

Three Business-Process-as-a-Service Case Studies

The Business-Process-as-a-Service (BPaaS) market is on the rise, with an expected compound annual growth rate of 23.7% from 2015 through 2020, according to Markets and Markets.

Companies can take advantage of BPaaS in a variety of ways, ranging from e-commerce support to operations efficiency. Yet some businesses may still be a bit lost as to how they can benefit from it, so it’s useful to look at Business-Process-a-Service case studies to see how some companies are using these services.

Flying with the Cloud

While airplanes fly through the clouds, airlines can take advantage of cloud computing for areas such as sales and customer support, using a BPaaS solution like Navitaire.

Originally a part of Accenture, and now owned by Amadeus, Navitaire can handle a number of business processes like online bookings, so airlines do not need their own on-premise platforms, nor do they need to manage the software in order to make it possible for passengers to make reservations in the same way airlines would have to if it was simply cloud software delivery without the service support. All of the technical work is handled by Navitaire, and it’s working as its reservation clients now have more than 60% of their sales online, with several of its airline clients making over 90% of sales online.

Is It What It Claims to Be?

In addition to being used to generate revenue like with online sales solutions, BPaaS can also be used to better manage operations and potentially save money, such as with claims processing for insurers. For example, EXL has a medical record and bill BPaaS solution called MedConnection. The solution helps improve claim processing accuracy and reduce turnaround time through a mix of a cloud platform and medical specialists that can analyze the information.

So rather than insures having to have the software and staff to fully manage claims in-house, they can use this type of BPaaS solution to take advantage of the technology and scale it offers.

Scouting a New Solution

Even organizations that you might not think of as tech-oriented can still benefit from BPaaS, such as how the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia selected a BPaaS solution from Qbix for finance and accounting. As Qbix explains, this Girl Scouts group had a hosted platform before that did not have real-time reporting and required significant expertise to generate reports. By outsourcing the business process to Qbix through the company’s cloud platform, the Girl Scouts gained access to real-time reports on essentially any device to help them make budgetary decisions and be able to scale without having to add staff.
